Women?s College, AMU organises Annual Mushaira
Aligarh, May 9: Poets from all over India recently gathered in Aligarh Muslim University?s Women?s College for the Annual Mushaira (poetic symposium), which was inaugurated by AMU Pro Chancellor, Nawab Ibne Saeed Khan of Chattari and attended by AMU Vice Chancellor, Lt General Zameer Uddin Shah (Veteran) as the Chief Guest.
Prominent poets from all over the country including Mr Azhar Inayati, Mr Vaquar Manvi, Mr Alam Khursheed, Mr Popular Meeruthi, Mr Jameel Manvi, Ms Salma Shaheen, Ms Azra Naqvi, Dr Shehla Nawab, Mr Mohid Rasheedi, Dr Gulam Sarwar, Professor Abid Ali Abid and Dr Zoya Zaidi recited the poetic compositions crafted in their literary expertise.
A major highlight of the event was Mr Azhar Inayati composition, which aesthetically highlighted initiatives taken by General Shah, in his tenure as the Vice Chancellor. The audience enjoyed Inyati?s composition with encouraging calls of ?wah wah? at the end of appreciated couplets and there were calls for the poet to repeat the couplets.
During his address, General Shah appreciated the efforts of Women?s College for continuing the tradition of organising the Annual Mushaira. He said, ?Urdu is not a language of Hindus or Muslims but a language of heart and Love?.
On this occasion, Mrs Sabiha Simi Shah, Prof Mohd Gulrez, Prof Abul Kalam Qasmi, Prof Anwar Jahan Zuberi and Prof Haneefa Khursheed also graced the occasion.
Prof Naima Gulrez, Principal, Women?s College; Prof Durdana Qasmi, Convener; Prof Durdana Qasmi and Dr Humaira Afridi played a significant role in the organization of Mushaira.
Mr Vaquar Manvi chaired the Mushaira and Dr Shariq Aqueel conducted the proceedings.
