K A Nizami Centre for Quranic Studies bids farewell to Professor Ahtisham Ahmad Nizami
Aligarh, May 11: The K A Nizami Centre for Quranic Studies, Aligarh Muslim University recently bid farewell to Professor Ahtisham Ahmad Nizami, Founder Director, K A N Centre for Quranic Studies on his retirement from the services of the University. The Farewell took place at the lawns of K A N Centre for Quranic Studies.
While presiding over the function, AMU Vice Chancellor, Lt General Zameer Uddin Shah (Veteran) urged the Quranic Scholars to delve deep into the teachings of the Quran to search for the hidden wisdom of the Holy Book for some of the most pressing problems faced by humanity.
He added that the Quranic scholars would find a treasure trove of pieces of wisdom within the Quran, which show the path to the humanity on how they should engage with followers of other religious faiths and to ensure peace and brotherhood.
General Shah also urged the newly appointed Director of the Quranic Centre, Professor A R Kidwai to carry on the commendable work done by his predecessor, Professor Ahtisham A Nizami.
Meanwhile, the newly appointed Director, Professor A R Kidwai said that the Centre is committed to the advancement of academic excellence in teaching, research and publication and its outreach activities promote a more informed understanding of Islamic culture and civilisation. He added that Centre provides a meeting point between the Islamic and Western worlds of learning as it contributes to the AMU?s mission of promoting Islamic studies, religious education and educational advancement of Indian Muslims.
He further said that the Centre is also focussing on various works done on the Holy Quran in the different regional languages.
Professor Ahtisham A Nizami thanked the Vice Chancellor and the University administration for cooperation and necessary guidance in all activities associated with the K A N Centre for Quranic Studies.
Dr Abdul Majeed presented the Citation for Prof Nizami during the programme. Dr Arshad Iqbal proposed the vote of thanks. Dr Mohd Mobeen Saleem conducted the programme.
