AMU inaugurates 1.5 MW Roof Top Solar PV Power Plant and installs 3 MW Ground Mounted Grid Connected Solar PV Power Farm
Aligarh, May 12: The Inauguration Ceremony of the 1.5 MW Roof Top Solar PV Power Plant was organised in the Assembly Hall of the University Polytechnic, which was attended by the Hon?ble Vice-Chancellor Lt General Zameeruddin Shah (Veteran) as the Chief Guest.
The Vice-Chancellor Lt General Zameeruddin Shah (Veteran) hailed the success of the project to Dr Mohd Rihan as the man behind the project. General Shah also thanked and congratulated other functionaries of the varsity for extending their all-round support to the project.
General Shah urged to focus on having more such projects in the University to save university?s funds, which can be used on other developmental and infrastructural fronts.
Later in the evening, the Foundation Stone for the Installation of the 3 MW Ground Mounted Grid Connected Solar PV Power Farm was unveiled by the Vice-Chancellor.
The Convener of the Green University Project Committee, Dr Mohd Rihan presented a Power Point Presentation providing an overview of the 1.5 MW Roof Top Solar PV Power Plant, incorporating the benefits and other relevant information about the project. He also spoke about the monthly and annual savings of the University on electricity bills after the implementation of the said project.
During his presentation, Dr Rihan informed that this plant has been installed under the SECI / CPWD Scheme of the Government of India. He further said that by generating electricity through solar-energy, we are saving huge quantities of non-renewable sources of energy like coal and water, etc.
Principal of the University Polytechnic, Professor S Iqbal Ali congratulated everyone involved in the successful completion of the project. He also appreciated and acknowledged the initiative of Dr Rihan for envisioning such a tremendous project and successfully implementing the same.
Er Mohd Yameen from the Solar Energy Corporation of India also congratulated the varisity on having such a vast Solar Power Plant. He further added that SECI will extend full co-operation if AMU undertakes such projects in future too.
Er B S Gangwar, Chief Engineer, DVVNL congratulated the university on having such a vast Solar Power Plant at AMU. He further added that DVVNL will extend full co-operation and support to AMU in all such projects.
Mr Irfan Khan proposed the vote of thanks. The programmes were compeered by Er Shamim Ansari, University Electrical Safety Officer and Mr Irfan Khan.
