Faculty of Arts bids farewell to Vice Chancellor and Pro Vice Chancellor
Aligarh, May 12: The Office of the Dean, Faculty of Arts, Aligarh Muslim University today bid farewell to the AMU Vice Chancellor, Lt General Zameer Uddin Shah (Veteran) and Pro Vice Chancellor, Brigadier S Ahmad Ali (Veteran) at the Faculty of Arts Lounge. On the occasion, the Vice Chancellor and the Pro Vice Chancellor also released the Faculty of Arts journals of English, Hindi and Urdu languages.
Mrs Sabiha Seemi Shah and Mrs Rizwana Ali were also present at the farewell.
While congratulating the Faculty of Arts Departments for producing the journals, General said pointed out that the administration could not have achieved what they did without the support of teachers, students and the University staff.
He added that many myths are been broken in the last days of the present administration. ?There was a misconception that the administration cannot work and perform in the last days. However, my administration has been working day and day even on sanctioned holidays,? said the Vice Chancellor.
?I am thankful that the teachers, students and the non-teaching staff have been there with us in the troubled times and when there were allegations of gender discrimination, our female students protested against the media reports,? added General Shah.
He pointed out that the teams of provosts, chairpersons, deans, proctors shielded us when we needed protection and I feel really proud that this University is functioning for the growth of education of Millat in a secular environment.
AMU Pro Vice Chancellor, Brigadier S Ahmad Ali (Veteran) said that ?today is indeed a touching moment?. He added that if the present administration has succeeded to achieving anything, it is because of the support of the teachers, students and the non-teaching staff of the University.
?The credit goes to you,? said the Pro Vice Chancellor while addressing the gathering at the function. He said that teachers and students have given us a free-hand to work for the betterment of the University and we will remember our tenure in AMU with nostalgia.
Brigadier Ali further said that after leaving the University, he cannot wait to see AMU students at the top-most positions in the government offices, the corporate world and other best jobs. ?When I will see you in the top most positions, I will like to hug you with a smile and be proud that you studied in AMU, when I was the Pro Vice Chancellor,? said Brigadier Ali adding that this, will a big achievement and success of this administration.
During his address, Professor Shaik Mastan said that he has not seen a more cooperating and supporting administration than the one led by General Shah and Brigadier Ali in his academic career. He added that the present Vice Chancellor and Pro Vice Chancellor will be remembered by generations to come.
Meanwhile, delivering the welcome address, Professor Tariq ul Islam said that this is indeed a very emotional and difficult moment to bid farewell to the present Vice Chancellor and Pro Vice Chancellor as under their able guidance the University has reached new heights of academic progress and infrastructural development.
The Vice Chancellor and the Pro Vice Chancellor with Professor Sagheer Afraheem, Professor Arif Nazeer and Professor Samina Khan later released the Urdu, Hindi and Englisg journals of the Faculty of Arts.
Professor Imitiyaz Hasnain proposed the vote of thanks, while Professor Shambunath Tiwari conducted the programme.
Professor Adarmi Dukht Safavi, Professor Farhathullah Khan, Dr Rahat Abrar and other academics associated with the Faculty of Arts and other departments and faculties were also present on the occasion.
