13-MAY-2017: Nazm Khwani and Card making competitions held at AMU Girls School
Aligarh, May 13: Aligarh Muslim University Girl?s School organized an Inter School Nazm Khwani competition and a Card making competition in connection with Sir Syed Bicentenary Celebrations 2017 in which Mrs Sabiha Simi Shah, wife of AMU Vice Chancellor, Lt Gen Zameer Uddin Shah (Veteran) participated as the Chief Guest while the Guests of Honor were Mrs Rizwana Ali, wife of Pro Vice Chancellor Brig S Ahmad Ali (Veteran) and Dr Hamida Tariq, renowned paediatrician.
Prof Aziza Hanif was the special guest on the occasion. A total of nine teams from nine different universities took part in the competition.
Mrs Amna Malik, Principal, AMU Girl?s School welcomed the guests and wished Mrs Sabiha Simi Shah a long and prosperous life. She also showed her gratitude towards Dr Hameeda Tariq, wife of Prof Tariq Mansoor, the incoming Vice Chancellor of AMU and hoped that she will also help in the promotion of school education especially that of girls of lower economic strata.
Tooba Chaudhary of AMU Girl?s School won the first, Sana Anjum from AMU City Girl?s School the second and Fiza Hussain from AMU Senior Secondary School (Girls) won the third prize in the Nazm Khwani competition. Abu Huzaifa, AMU ABK School (Boys) and Bushra Naaz, AMU Girl?s School won special prizes in the same competition.
In card making competition Mahdi Fazal from STS School and Manvi Sharma from AMU ABK Girls School together bagged the first prize while the second prize was shared by AMU Girls School?s Sanjana, Abdullah School?s Shifa Parveen and Kaif Zahid Quraishi of STS School. Zainab Fatima of City Girls School and Jaitanya Attri of ABK School (Boys) were awarded third prize in the same competition.
Prof Mohd Zahid Ali Khan, Department of Urdu, AMU presided over the function and also delivered a special lecture on Sir Syed Ahmad Khan: his life and mission. He quoted various examples from Sir Syed?s life as an inspiration for the students and advised them to adopt his vision and mission.
Ms Arshi Zafar Khan, Cultural Coordinator, AMU Girl?s School presented badges to the special guests and also proposed the vote of thanks. The results of competitions were announced by Ms Safia Sultana.
Meanwhile, special prayer for the health and well being of Ms Anam Aslam, a student of AMU Girl?s School, who was recently injured in a shooting incident was also held during the program.
The program was made successful with the untiring efforts of Ms Noor Afshan Usmani, Ms Zeba Nawaz, Ms Parveen Kausar, Ms Khadija Bibi, Ms Fakhra Tabassum, Ms Anjum Fatima, Ms Naushaba Yasmin, Ms Seemab Mukhtar, Ms Shabnam Aijaz, Ms Shabnam Azhar, Dr Yasir Zafar Khan and Mr Mohd Adnan Khan.
