15-MAY-2017: AMU and ESD, AIR sign MoU to facilitate radio programmes production
Aligarh, May 15: The Aligarh Muslim University has today signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the External Services Division (ESD) of All India Radio (AIR) to cooperate and coordinate with each other for producing radio programmes engaging the University faculty members, scholars and students.
The MoU was signed in the presence of AMU Vice Chancellor, Lt General Zameer Uddin Shah (Veteran) and AIR Team consisting of Mr Ansar Ahmad, Incharge, Arabic Service; Mr Ahmad Ali Barqi Azmi, Incharge, Persian Service; Mr S M Noman Shouq, Incharge Urdu Service; Mr Sanjay Kaul, Programme Officer and Mr SM Raza, Consultant (Urdu).
Signatories of the MoU included AMU Registrar, Professor Javaid Akhtar and Mr Rajeev Kumar Shukla, Deputy Director General (Program), All India Radio, New Delhi. Dr Rahat Abrar, Director, Urdu Academy facilitated the signing of this MoU, which will bring in the mainstream, the vast resource and talent pool available in AMU.
Under the MoU, a team from ESD, AIR shall visit AMU for three days every month to record talks, interviews and programmes in other radio formats. These programmes, including programmes for youth will be recorded in the University?s Department of Mass Communication?s studio, while their broadcast will be done by ESD?s different language services.
According to the MoU, the ESD, AIR has agreed to provide a fortnightly one-hour fixed broadcast to AMU in AIR?s Urdu Service. The components of these programmes will be on drama, music, recitations and coverage of important functions in the campus. The MoU also stated that these programmes will be produced by the Department of Mass Communication students. Meanwhile, ESD, AIR will provide internship opportunities on various aspects of broadcast journalism and production of radio programmes among other important jobs.
The MoU will also facilitate language skill orientation programme by AMU to the ESD, AIR professionals in the Arabic, Persian, Pashto, Dari and Urdu Services in respective language departments. The MoU shall be valid for three years initially from the date of its signing and further extension of the same will be done by explicit interest by both the parties.
Both the parties of the MoU shall nominate one nodal officer each for smooth execution of the MoU.
