29-SEP-2017: Prof Mirza Asmer Beg delivers lecture on 'Why conflicts arise in International Politics?'
Aligarh, September 29: Prof Mirza Asmer Beg (Chairperson, Department of Political Science, Aligarh Muslim University?AMU) delivered an 'Extra Mural Lecture' on 'Why conflicts arise in International Politics?' at the varsity's Faculty of Law. The lecture was organised by the Law Society, Faculty of Law.
While delineating on issues that lay at the core of conflicts in international politics, Prof Beg discussed global power dynamics and how international politics is about survival of the fittest.
He further discussed how demonstration of power takes place and how it is not possible to escape conflicts. "The world can at most manage conflicts, but they cannot be done away with," said Prof Beg.
Prof Beg emphasised the onslaught of 'cultural imperialism', a tool used by super powers to gain consent of other nation states for exploitation and why manifest conflicts do not take place in contemporary era. After the lecture, Prof Beg joined an interactive session with the students.
Prof Zaheeruddin delivered the welcome address. Nouria Rafi and M Suhail Khan conducted the programme. Dr Mohammad Tariq (In-charge, Law Society) proposed the vote of thanks.
