04-OCT-2017: AMU Vice Chancellor appeals students to maintain peaceful and academic environment
Aligarh, October 4: As the Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) is celebrating the birth bicentenary year of Sir Syed Ahmad Khan, the AMU Vice Chancellor, Professor Tariq Mansoor has appealed the students to cooperate in maintaining a peaceful and academic environment in the varsity campus.
"We are celebrating the birth bicentenary year of our most revered founder, Sir Syed Ahmad Khan," said the Vice Chancellor adding that this year has been a juncture where we have reinforced our commitment to Sir Syed's mission by revisiting AMU's glorious history and asserting our formidable presence on the educational map of the Nation through laurels and achievements earned by students and teachers.
"My dear students let me also take this opportunity to reiterate that the perception and face of the University gets created first and foremost through the action and behaviour of its students," said Professor Mansoor. He pointed that AMU has emerged as a frontrunner in almost all the rankings in recent years and any untoward incident will lead to a setback in the University's reputation which stands on the contribution of students.
Prof Mansoor added, "I appeal to you (students) to continue working in a positive and constructive manner for safeguarding and strengthening the reputation and image of the University.?
He pointed out that even if some elements attempt to create chaos and disorder in the University on frivolous issues, it is the duty of all of us to exercise restraint and act in a responsible and mature manner and not allow anybody to spread rumours for the purpose of misguiding.
"Therefore, it is my request to you to remain cautious of such elements and try not to get influenced by the fringe elements outside the University," said Professor Mansoor, while alarming that rumour mongering often converts non-issues into issues eventually wasting precious time, energy and resources.
He further said that he expects and sincerely pray that all AMU students achieve their academic goals with good marks, they develop all round personalities and begin successful professional journeys. "For achieving this, you need to focus on your studies and career planning and I assure you full cooperation in fulfilling these dreams," said the Vice Chancellor in his appeal to students.
He further pointed out that since AMU has always been a unique amalgam of democratic spirit and traditional values and to sustain this, the election process of AMU Students Union and representatives of the students to AMU Court must be conducted in a peaceful and orderly manner.
"I seek your cooperation and constructive participation in safeguarding your interests in the University and also to take AMU to even better position in the country and the world," said Prof Mansoor, while concluding his appeal.
