09-OCT-2017: CME held at Tibbiya College
Aligarh, October 9: Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) Vice Chancellor, Professor Tariq Mansoor today inaugurated a Continuing Medical Education (CME) programme for Unani medicine teachers at the university's AK Tibbiya College (AKTC). The conference was organised by the Department of Moalejat, AKTC.
Speaking on the occasion, Professor Mansoor said that teaching and learning is a continuous process in the medical profession. He added that it is imperative that all University departments should conduct academic programmes on regular basis and the teaching fraternity and students should participate in conferences.
Addressing participants from various parts of the country; Prof Mansoor said that since medical profession is based on team-work, the participating teachers should work with this spirit in their respective institutions.
He emphasised the importance of time management and planning. "If things are properly planned, the scope for improvement is always there," said the Vice Chancellor.
Professor Mansoor pointed out that AKTC has one of the best infrastructures in all the Tibbiya Colleges across the country.
The Vice Chancellor congratulated Professor Tajuddin and Professor Mohammad Muhiul Siddiqui for receiving the Acharya award and the Hakim Ajmal Khan-2014 award respectively for their and outstanding services in the field of Unani Medicine from the Central Council of Indian Medicine (Ministry of Ayush, Government of India). He also congratulated Professor Shagufta Aleem for being conferred with the 'Bharat Ratan Indira Gandhi Award' and Dr Misbahuddin Azhar for receiving the Ministry of Ayush's 'Young Scholar Award'.
Guest of honour, Professor Wazahat Hussain (Retd. professor from the Department of Botany) said that the students should work on the vision of Hakim Ajmal Khan for contributing in the Unani medicine field.
Professor Munir Ahmad (Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Bangalore), who also attended the function as a guest of honour discussed the importance of regular participations of teachers in CMEs to be abreast with latest developments.
Professor Shaguta Aleem (Vice President, Unani, Central Council of Indian Medicine?CCIM, Ministry of Ayush, New Delhi) assured that CCIM will provide all possible help to AKTC for conducting CMEs.
Professor Malik M Wamiq Amin (Dean, Faculty of Unani Medicine) pointed out that the Department of Moalejat in AMU has been regularly publishing journals with details of the ongoing researches. Prof Misbahuddin Siddiqui pointed out that the department has produced over 200 research papers and 55 books of national and international repute during his welcome address.
Dr Badrudduja Khan conducted the programme. Professor Prof Tanzeel Ahmad proposed the vote of thanks.
