10-OCT-2017: Orientation programme for MSW first semester students held at Arts Faculty Lounge
Aligarh, October 10: Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) Vice Chancellor, Professor Tariq Mansoor attended the Orientation-Programme for the first semester students of Master in Social Work (MSW) at the university's Arts Faculty Lounge. He attended the function as the chief guest.
On the occasion, the Vice Chancellor pointed out that the field of social work is vast with very interesting and challenges jobs to do. "Students seeking employment in social work fields of NGOs, government institutions, hospitals, rural places and other areas should have excellent communication skills," urged Professor Manssor.
He added that the MSW students in AMU also have a high job placement record, which makes the university proud. Prof Mansoor further said that students should follow a disciplined routine with proper time-management, a good dressing sense, a sense of team work and thorough knowledge of subjects and field to impress upon employers for pursuing their career goals.
Prof Shamim A Ansari (Dean, Faculty of Social Sciences) discussed the importance of hard work and determination for successful careers. He added that the social work field has a lot of opportunities in terms of jobs and research work.
Prof Akbar Husain (Department of Psychology) emphasised on 'Mental health in the workplace'. He said that since today the world is observing the Mental Health Day, it is important that students and professionals associated with social work field should raise awareness of mental health issues and mobilize efforts in support of better mental health.
Dr Naseem Ahmad Khan (Chairperson, Department of Social Work) briefed the activities of the Department of Social Work. He also delivered the welcome address.
Dr M Arif Khan conducted the programme, while Dr Qurrat ul Aein Ali proposed the vote of thanks.
