Workshop held on Pulmonary Rehabilitation
ALIGARH October 21: The Department of TB and Chest Diseases, J N Medical College, Aligarh Muslim University organised a workshop on Pulmonary Rehabilitation, an important part of treatment of end stage pulmonary disease patients.
Dr Sumanta Ghosh, Deputy Manager, Phillips India, New Delhi highlighted the various nuances of the pulmonary rehabilitation as the guest speaker. Dr Ghosh demonstrated the different components of Pulmonary Rehabilitation on patients.
Dr Nafees Ahmad Khan, Director of the workshop spoke on the importance of the topic, while senior faculty members, Professor Rakesh Bhargava and Prof Zuber Ahmad shed light on international guidelines in this regard and also told how to undergo exercise training in pulmonary rehabilitation. Dr Ummul Baneen talked about ?6-minute walk test?.
Prof Mohammad Shameem, Chairman of the Department, informed that a Pulmonary Rehabilitation Clinic will soon be started in OPD-15 in Trauma Centre of JNMC. He said that there were only a few such centres in India and patients of COPD and other end stage respiratory diseases will be highly benefited here as it will be the first clinic in Uttar Pradesh.
Prof Mohd Amanullah Khan, Dean, Faculty of Medicine appreciated the academic activities conducted by the Department.
The workshop was attended by a number of doctors of different specialty, including general physicians, respiratory physicians, physiotherapists and nurses from different cities.
