28-OCT-2017: Two Days JNMC-REUNION -2017 Inaugurated
Aligarh, October 28: After witnessing the successful founder?s day celebration on October 17th, the Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College (JNMC) today celebrated the home coming of hundreds of illustrious alumni with the college?s two days Mega Reunion. In an Inaugural and felicitation ceremony of JNMC Mega Reunion?2017, brought alumni from JNMC?s first MBBS batch of 1962 to recently concluded batch. The programme has been organised to mark Sir Syed?s Bicentenary celebrations.
On the occasion, Aligarh Muslim University Vice Chancellor, Professor Tariq Mansoor, an alumnus of the JNMC, said that round the year bicentenary celebrations will augment the existing resource on Sir Syed and to reproduce it in the IT age so as to promulgate the philosophy Sir Syed for education. ?It is an honour of highest order to serve this great institution. I assure you all my full commitment to uphold the values of this institution?.
He emphasised that the strength of AMU alumni globally is a testament to the vision of our founder who imagined AMU graduates spread all over the world to preach the gospel of free enquiry, pure morality and large hearted tolerance. He further said Alumni need to come forward and join hands actively in the growth and development of AMU
Talking about his long association with JNMC, he added that, at the helm of affairs of JNMC and hospital, he synchronised the potential engagement of Alumni that yielded significant results in infrastructure ? state of art Medical College Auditorium; competence building and skill development of our students and faculty through International collaborations and exchange programs with University of Massachusetts Medical School (USA), fellowship exchange program for hospital training Doctors of JNMC in Queen Elizabeth Hospital (UK), would have not been possible without the unwavering support of my alumni friends abroad and colleagues in JNMC and AMU
He added that day by day we notice progress and ranking of AMU on the map of India. It is need of the hour to carry it further and have super speciality courses in various departments of JNMC. We also have in pipeline the institute of pharmacy, college of paramedical sciences and college of nursing. He said his dream project is to expand the scope of Aligarh Open University program by encouraging more regular participation and having calendar of events
Welcome address was given by Dr. Raaj K kawal (Convenor, JNMC Mega Re-Union), who talked about the journey of Mohmmaden Anglo Oriental College (MAO) to AMU, and how JNMC College was established. He praised the purpose behind such events
The Principal & CMS and Dean Faculty of Medicine, AMU Prof SC Sharma talked about the glorious history of JNMC , he further appealed to Alumni to strengthen the hands of VC Prof Tariq Mansoor by giving back to Alma Matar
Prof MU Rabbani (Co-Convenor, JNMC Mega Re-Union) said that it is profound sense of fulfilment and a momentous occasion as we have turned back to 1962. JNMCites have distinguished themselves and their alma mater in all parts of the globe and putting their education to work for society. He appreciated and thanked the Vice Chancelor for carrying forward the mission of Sir Syed.
A felicitation program was a part of the Mega Reunion as a token of respect to Senior Retired teachers of JNMC. Prof Tariq Mansoor did the honour and presented memento to them.
List of the retired seniors includes Prof. Mohd Zaheer, Prof. S A Siddiq, Prof. OP Ahya, Prof GP Gupta, Prof Aftab Iraqi, Prof Froz Hameed, Prof Ruqiah Rizvi, Prof M Mobashir , Prof Shamim Jahan Rizvi, Prof VVS Gahlaut, Prof Azra Iraqi, Prof Imran Ghani, Prof Aziz Khan, Prof Muzzamil Ullah, Prof Wajid Naqvi, Prof Badrul Hasan, Prof Mohd Ahmad, Prof Abrar Hsan, Prof Ashraf Malik, Prof Abida Malik, Prof Abu Qamar, Prof BS Goel, Prof S Bano, Prof SC Singhal.
There was a poster and painting competition and carried prize money of $500, 300 and 200 sponsored by Dr. S Mohsin A Alvi, member AMAANA.
The winners were Mr. Hasique Jaleel, Dr Amir Khan and Dr Mohd Tafazal Sheikh respectively.
The program was conducted by Prof Tamkin Khan, who touched every aspect of JNMC and who?s who of Alumni.
The large gathering witnessed the inaugural and felicitation programme. Vote of thanks was given by Dr. Salman Shah.
The programme started with recitation from the Holy Quran and concluded with University Tarana followed by National Anthem
