AMU fraternity welcomes Prof Shahab as new Pro Vice Chancellor
Aligarh, October 30: Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) fraternity across the world comprising senior academicians, alumni and students has welcomed the appointment of the Pro Vice Chancellor, Professor Tabassum Shahab through social media posts, emails and newspapers.
Many senior and retired faculty members have lauded the decision of AMU Vice Chancellor, Professor Tariq Mansoor of appointing Prof Shahab as the Pro Vice Chancellor.
Earlier, the Vice Chancellor, Professor Mansoor appointed Professor Shahab as the Pro-Vice Chancellor of the University.
Prof Shahab has over 22 years of clinical experience and vast administrative experience to his credit. He has served as the Provost, Hadi Hasan Hall and has proved his mettle in administrative capacities as Nodal Officer, Minority Students? Affairs; Nodal Officer of WHO and UNICEF?s Global Polio Eradication Programme; President, Gymkhana Club in University Games Committee and Chairperson of Department of Pediatrics, Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College (JNMC).
Prof Shahab, a senior faculty member in the Department of Paediatrics, JNMC passed MD (Pediatrics) in 1981 from Madhya Pradesh and joined the Department of Pediatrics in March 1984. He has been working as a professor since 2001 and has worked as an associate professor from 1993 to 2001.
Prof Shahab has also served as a Specialist (Pediatrics) with Ibri Regional Referral Hospital, IBRI Ministry of Health, Sultanate of Oman; Maternity and Children's Hospital Biljurashi, Ministry of Health, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and Al-Hanakiya Private Hospital, Al-Hanakiya, Madina-Munawwara, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
He has a number of research papers in journals of international and national repute such as Indian Pediatrics, Indian Journal of Pediatrics, Journal of Tropical Pediatrics, etc to his credit.
