Sir Syed Bicentenary celebrations conclude at AMU Malappuram Centre
Aligarh, November 3: The Malappuram Centre of Aligarh Muslim University concluded the year-long Sir Syed Bicentenary Celebrations with great fervour and enthusiasm.
Padmashree Prof NR Madhava Menon, founder of NALSAR and an alumnus of AMU, in his commemorative speech on Sir Syed Ahmad Khan, appreciated the AMU community for their contributions in education in the backward areas of Uttar Pradesh. He said that AMU holds a unique place for providing cheaper education to students from poor section.
Prof Menon urged to establish a development fund in the name of Sir Syed on his 200th birth anniversary. He offered to donate his personal books to the Center?s library.
Shri PK Kunhalikutty, Member of Parliament from Malappuram, appreciated the efforts of the Director for his contribution in the development of the Centre. He said that Aligarh has contributed a lot in the development of the Nation. He stressed that backwardness in the country could be removed only when communities came together and worked for the educational renaissance.
Shri PV Abdul Wahab, Member of Rajya Sabha from Kerala released the Hall Magazine of Malappuram Centre and highlighted the contributions of Sir Syed Ahmed Khan and the Aligarh Movement in nation building.
Welcoming the guests, Professor Abdur Rasheed KM, Director of the Centre welcomed the dignitaries. While delivering presidential address highlighted the great works of Sir Syed Ahmed Khan for educational uplift and development of modern scientific education.

Mr Ghalib Nashter, Provost, Hall of residence and Dr Faisal KP, the General convener of the Sir Syed bicentenary celebrations along with Senior Hall for Girls, Ms Shrimee Shrivastava and Senior Hall for Boys Mr Shakeel Ahmad also spoke on the occasion.
Shri Paloli Mohammed Kutty, former Minister, Govt. of Kerala, distributed prizes to the winners of various literary and cultural events held as part of the bicentenary celebrations.
Shri CP Kunhi Mohammad, Chairman, Kerala Roadways Ltd and Mr Mohammad Ahazam Khan were also present on the occasion.
Students under the events committee conducted several events of Speech, Skit, Ghazal, mono acting, mimicry, etc. The student?s events were supervised by the faculty In-charge of events committee, Mr. Shahnawaz Ahmed Malik.
Cultural and Literary secretaries Salmanul Faseel, Paranav, Aiman Khan and Bushra Wahid along with Palak Malhotatra, Syed Nishat Fatima, Saba Ansari, Ali Sheikh, Hamza Tirmizi and Mohd Waseem anchored various student?s events.
Mr Syed Ahmad Saad, Mr Mohammad Shakeel Ahmad, Mr Abdul Basith, Dr Naseer Ali, Dr Hayat Basha, Mr Mohammad Yashik P, Dr Lubna Ansari, Mr M Ahsan Sadiq, Mr Mohammad Hasan, Mrs Sabeena, Mrs Abidha Beegum, Dr Azmat Ali, Mr Muhammad Haris C, Mr Faisal Ameen, Mr Mohd Afzal, Mr Junaid Qasim along with students and staff took part in various activities.
