HR Meet-2017 held at Aligarh Muslim University
Aligarh, November 6: The Training and Placement Office (General) (TPO) and Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) organized ?HR Meet-2017? at historical Strachey hall, which aimed at bridging the gap between the corporate world and the students of AMU.
Presiding over the function Prof. Tariq Mansoor, Vice Chancellor, AMU, highlighted the scope for improvement in placement opportunities through such events. He explained, ?There is no question that the field of career services is going through a major paradigm shift, AMU must explore new options and by reinvigorating old methods of fostering relationships between employers and students.
He said, to effectively manage the transition from college to career, AMU must develop specific strategies for students? personal and career development and employer engagement. Employer engagement and professional development strategies should draw on strong networks of stakeholders that can support and inform students throughout the career preparation process.
He suggested TPO (G) to promote on?campus employer engagement programs career services that can offer and include on?campus interviews, networking events, career fairs, and employer-led workshops or educational sessions. University must adopt experiential education via job shadowing and internship programs to promote enormous talent which our campus holds, he added.
Guest of Honor, Prof. Tabassum Shahab, Pro Vice Chancellor, AMU, presented a philosophy to success by being persistent on a particular dream. He said we strive to dream and believe in our ability to face challenges and adversities without giving up determine our success.
Chief Guest of the Meet, Saiyad Shahin Alam, Managing Director, Al Shahin Group, Dubai said that ?AMU is producing one of the best talents in the country, what is required is product promotion.? and suggested that the University need to inculcate experts from the corporate world. Adding further he presented the idea of integration of TPOs and Alumni to felicitate the information from Gulf to India. He further advised students, to not venture into foreign land without any experience.
The event started with the welcome address by Prof. M. Rizwan Khan, Department of English& Convener of the HR Meet 2017. He enlightened the guests with the progress of placement cell in the varsity by saying, "The University has been instrumental in helping students to prepare for the corporate world and the appointment of the career counselors in each department has helped the students to come forward with their capabilities."
Saad Hameed, the Training and Placement Officer (General) and Coordinator of this event, elaborated the objective of the Meet: ?The purpose is to bring the corporate world into our campus, through a corporate-academia linkage." He further emphasized, that companies and university should work in tandem to push the frontiers of knowledge.
Guest of Honour Mr. Rahul Jain, Head HR, U-flex Chemicals, highlighted the idea of positive attitude and being resilient in the corporate sector.
Guest of Honour Ms. Sushma Singh, Head HR, iEnergizer, motivated the students to take their passion to optimum and not to get disappointed by the failures, while the Special Guest of the event, Mr. Mohammad Ziauddin, Ango Zara Comerecia; mentioned golden rules for sustaining in the corporate world
In the second half, there was an interactive panel discussion on the topic ?Processes and Challenges of Recruitment of right talent?.
A total of 30 companies participated in the HR meet including ITC, NDTV, Tata Chemicals Ltd., Vision India, Diwan Advocates, ICICI Bank , Wipro Technologies and others.
Tooba Naz and Prachi Varshney (MBA student) gave power point presentation on the ?Advancement of Aligarh Muslim University? since its inception.
Sajjal khan was the student coordinator for the event, which was attended by TPOs, Career Councellors, student volunteers and PRO team
Dr. Mansoor A. Siddique proposed the vote of thanks, while Wajahat Jilani (Law Student) conducted the program
The event started with verses from Holy Quran and concluded with AMU Tarna followed by National Anthem
