Farewell function held for Prof Amanullah Khan
ALIGARH November 7: The Department of Surgery, J N Medical College, Aligarh Muslim University organized an impressive farewell in the honour of Prof. M. Amanullah Khan, former Dean, Faculty of Medicine and former Chairman, Department of Surgery, who recently completed his long stint in the University. More than a hundred faculty members, along with the University Registrar, Prof Javaid Akhtar and office staff were present on this occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof Mohammad Aslam, Chairman, Department of Surgery upheld the notable services of Professor Khan in the academic learning, professional training and research orientation of amateur doctors and overall development of the Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College and the Department of Surgery as a dedicated Professor, Dean, Principal and Chief Medical Superintendent.
Prof Aslam said that Prof Khan always worked to keep the system transparent and strong. He always served as a role model for his juniors as a professional committed to his duties while at the same time remaining compassionate to the patients. His name commands admiration, honour and reverence, added Prof Aslam.
Prof Aslam pointed out that Prof Khan carries with him an aura of eloquence, wisdom, knowledge and generosity and will always be looked upon for fecundity of thought and freshness of innovative ideas.
Recalling his time spent with Prof Amanullah Khan during their student days, AMU Registrar, Prof Javaid Akhtar recalled the momentous events and admired him for his sincerity, honesty and passion for development works.
Prof S C Sharma, Dean and Principal, J N Medical College, extended best wishes to Prof Khan for his life after retirement. Prof Sharma reminded the audience of the significant services rendered by Prof Khan in starting new projects and carrying out innovative programmes for the comprehensive development of the College.
Prof M K A Sherwani and Prof M H Raza recollected their memories and proffered good wishes to Prof Khan. Prof Afzal Anees presented a documentary on his life and contributions. Professor Syed Hasan Haris proposed a vote of thanks.
Medical Superintendent, Prof Haris Manzoor and other senior faculty members including Prof Abrar Hasan, Prof Aftab Ahmad Iraqi, Prof L M Bariar, Prof Mohd Zahid extended warm wishes to Prof Amanullah Khan.
