Singapore alumni celebrate ?Sir Syed Day?
Aligarh, November 7: Singapore based Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) alumni commemorated the bicentennial year of AMU founder Sir Syed Ahmad Khan at the Changi Civil Service Club in Singapore.
Attending the ?Sir Syed Day? as the chief guest, Mr Jawed Ashraf (Indian High Commissioner, Singapore) said that Sir Syed was born in Mughal India and died in British India leaving a legacy that continues to thrive in modern India. He delineated the need for reviving Sir Syed?s rationalist, open-minded approach.
AMU alumnus, Mr George Abraham (Chairman and MD of the GA Group) shared lessons of humility, acceptance and open-mindedness, he learnt in AMU.
The programme also had a special screening of a documentary on the life and work of Sir Syed Ahmad Khan. An interactive quiz on AMU and Aligarh city and a cultural programme were also held.
