AMUET Female Scholarships
Aligarh, November 9: The ?Aligarh Muslim University Engineers Trust?(AMUET), a trust founded by the 1991 batch of the Zakir Husain College of Engineering and Technology (ZHCET) Alumni, awarded the ?AMUET Female Scholarships? to nine girl students of ZHCET, during a small function. The scholarship recipients are from various branches of engineering, pursuing B.Tech, B.E and B.Arch courses.
The selection of the candidates for the scholarship was based on a rigorous procedure which included an interview aimed primarily at determining the need of the meritorious girl students held at ZHCET.
A total of 30 applicants appeared in the interview, conducted by Ms. Seema Singh, Captain Urooj Athar (Indian Navy), Mr. Vikas Brij Kaushly, Mr. Ashwini Sharma and Prof. Omar Farooq.
The scholarship cheques were given to nine shortlisted girl students of the college during a ceremony. Based on the actual need assessments, five students were awarded scholarships worth Rs. 15000 each, whereas four students were awarded scholarships worth Rs 20,000 each
The ceremony, inter-alia, had an interactive session with ZHCET alumnus Mr. Ambrish Kenghe, the senior vice president of Myntra Company. Mr. Kenghe is a proud alumnus of B.Tech (Computer Sciences) 1996 batch. Ms. Seema Singh also interacted with the students and urged them to help each other and remain in contact with the alumni for any career related advice. Prof. Umar Farooq was the other dignitary present during the ceremony.
Prof. M. M. Sufyan Beg, the Principal of ZHCET, congratulated the scholarship recipients and exhorted all the students to actively participate in the on-going bicentenary programmes.
The trustees of the AMUET are Ms Fawzia Tarannum, Ms Seema Kumar Singh, Mr Pankaj Garg, Mr Ashwani Sharma, Mr Vikas Brij Kaushly and Mr Omar Farooq.
