Workshop concluded on Professional Communication at AMU Kishanganj Centre
Aligarh, November11: Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) Kishanganj Centre concluded a two day Workshop on ?Professional Communication Skills? held at the Academic Block of the Centre under the aegis of Coaching and Guidance Cell.
In his keynote address, Dr Asif A Syed, Faculty member of Department of Business Administration AMU, emphasised the importance of communication skills and said that in today?s competitive world, communication skills in business are the most sought after quality of an educated person.
While speaking in the inaugural session, Prof. Raashid Nehal, Director, AMU Kishanganj Centre, focussed on the importance of communication skills and talked about three agendas of the workshop i.e. to motivate students to work critically in close cooperation with another as team member; to learn to negotiate to access to information and contribute to the academic development skills and speaking and writing communication skills and to make the students see market reality as an agent of change for academic development.
Seventy Two Students of MBA and B.Ed. stream participated in the workshop. In the technical session I, Dr. Asif A Syed screened a short film on ?how to start a small business? by National Small Industries Corporation (NSIC). This video enlightened the participants with several ideas of being an entrepreneur with a low capital.
Group Discussion on the topic ?What can we do for AMU Kishanganj Centre? followed by prizes on the evaluative write-up on the ?Development of Group Discussion?.
Out of the 6 groups, C and F were adjudged the winners and runners respectively. Ramla Parveen, Almas Raza and Ramsha Zahid & Mohd. Amirul Hasan bagged the 1st, 2nd and 3rd prizes respectively and two consolation prizes were given to Manauwar Raza, and Sanjeet Kumar.
As part of feedback, students suggested Alumni meet should be organized to build up the network and connection with seniors. Besides, they suggested to organize workshops on teacher training, government support in education, women empowerment, inviting interactions with local industries personnel?s, information technology, language development, time management, career exploration, personality development, writing skill development, community upliftment, facing interviews and how to prepare for UPSC/PCS competition
Concluding remarks were given by Prof. Raashid Nehal and the vote of thanks was proposed by Mr. Ghufran Ahmad (Jt. Organizing Secy.)
