18-NOV-2017: UGC HRDC concludes SRC for Arabic, Islamic Studies, Persian, Theology and Urdu teachers
Aligarh, November 18: A three-week Subject Refresher Course (SRC) for Arabic, Islamic Studies, Persian, Theology and Urdu teachers from various colleges and universities was concluded with a valedictory function at the UGC Human Resource Development Centre (UGC HRDC), Aligarh Muslim University (AMU).
Fifty-four teachers from the states of Assam, Delhi, Jammu and Kashmir, Kerala, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal were enrolled in the course.
While attending the function as the chief guest, Padmashree, Professor Akhtarul Wasey (Vice Chancellor, Maulana Azad University, Jodhpur) said that the contribution of AMU in the evolution of oriental studies is unmatched. He added that scholars and writers like Hali, Shibli Nomani, Nazir Ahmad and Hadi Hasan are big names, known internationally for their contributions.
Extending best wishes to the participants, Professor Abdur Rahim Kidwai (Director, UGC HRDC) urged language teachers to continue with their hard work and contributions. He added that Urdu, Arabic and Persian are not only languages but keepers of traditions.
Prof Saghir Afraheim (Course Coordinator) and Professor Salahuddin Umri (In-charge, Arabic, SRC) distributed certificates to the participants.
Dr Faiza Abbasi (Assistant Professor, UGC HRDC) conducted the programme. She also delivered the welcome address.
In a feedback of the programme, Mr P Tanveer Ahmed (Islamiah College, New Town, Vaniyambadi, Vellore) and Mr Amir Hamza Baig (K M E Society?s G.M. Momin Women?s College, Bhiwandi, Thane) said that AMU is a microcosm of the best in India.
Dr Fozia Waheed (Persian Section, Women?s College, AMU), Dr Neelofar Hafeez ( Department of Arabic and Persian, University of Allahabad) and Dr Shakkeela K P (Govt. College, Malappuram) were also present.
Mr Mohd Abdul Quavi (Telangana Univeristy, Dichpally, Nizamabad), Dr Mohammad Mustafa Khan (Sir Syed College of Arts, Commerce and Science, Aurangabad) and Dr Irshad Ahmed Khan (Netaji Subhashchandra Bose College, Nanded) received the first, second and third prizes for extensively using the HRDC Library. Dr Mohammed K (Department of Arabic, Govt. College, Malappuram) won the essay-writing competition.
