21-NOV-2017: International Conference on Analysis and its Applications Held `
Aligarh, November 21: ?Researchers play a crucial role in understanding and believing a concept through substantial justification and verifications?, said Professor Tariq Mansoor, Vice Chancellor, Aligarh Muslim University (AMU). He was addressing the inaugural ceremony of International Conference on ?Analysis and its Application?, organized by the Department of Mathematics under the UGC-DRS (II) programme.
As Chief Guest, Prof. Mansoor said that in the modern age of science and technology, emphasis is given on science such as Physics, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Medicine and Engineering and these sciences cannot survive without Mathematics. He said that all these sciences owe their progress to Mathematics. Showing his pleasure on gathering of eminent mathematicians from different countries he added, it is a truly International Conference.
He emphasized on maximum availability of teachers in the department for research work and researchers.Congratulating one and all, he assured his full cooperation to the department and faculty to carry forward research work and for any possibility of MOU?s with International Universities of repute.
Five researchers from the Department were also felicitated. Young Researchers Award to Dr. Meezamur Rehman, Appreciation Research Award to Prof. Kaleem Raza Kazmi, Excellent Research Award to Prof. Qamarul H Ansari, Special Research Award to Prof Mohd Asharaf and the Life Time Research Award was conferred to Prof. Mursaleen for his research achievements.
AMU Vice Chancellor also released the souvenir on the occasion.
The Guest of Honor Prof Satya Deo Tripathi (NASI senior scientist and currently visiting Professor at Harish Chandra Research Institute, Allahabad), said AMU is like home coming and one of the best mathematics department in India having its own building
Guest speaker Prof. Gabor Kassay, a renowned and senior mathematician from Romania said that it is a privilege to be part of such a quality conference and is looking forward for better cooperation and understanding between two countries through academic exchange programs.
Prof. Abul H Siddqui, former Chairman, Dean and Pro-Vice Chancellor of AMU, shared his journey of experience that how the department was built and who?s who of contributors. He added he is still occupied with academics and is always available to help the students in their research work.
Prof. M Shakir, a distinguished chemical scientist and dean faculty of science AMU, said it is a proud privileged to be associated with such event and the progress of department of Mathematics gives every reason to rejoice.
Prof. D Aussel from France, Prof. Joydee Dutta from IIT Kanpur, Prof. Matthias Ehrgott from UK, Prof. Andreas Hamel from Italy, Prof. CS Laltha from Delhi University, Prof. Majid Soleimani-damaneh from Iran and Prof. Constantin Zalinescu from Romania who participated as speakers for International workshop on ?Convex Analysis and Optimization?, were handed over mementos by Vice Chancellor.
Prof. M Mursaleen , Chairman department of Mathematics and coordinator UGS-DRS(II) , in his opening remarks and departmental report informed that the present conference is 5th in a row under the present phase of UGC's DRS Programme. He shared that the latest US News Ranking, the Department of Mathematics of AMU has 129th rank in the World and is a sole department in India among top 200 universities/ institutions in Mathematics.
The Convener Prof. Rais Ahmad touched each and every aspect of the progress journey of the department, whereas vote of thanks was given by Prof. Subuhi Khan who shared who?s who of the international and national delegates.
