04-DEC-2017: AMU observes ?World Disability Day?
Aligarh, December 4: Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) observed the ?World Disability Day? with a special function organised by the Disability Unit, AMU at the Assembly Hall of University Polytechnic.
Attending the function as the chief-guest, AMU Pro-Vice Chancellor, Professor Tabassum Shahab encouraged differently-able students to work hard for achieving the best. He added that God has gifted human beings with special skills and people need to work hard to hone their skills.
The Pro-Vice Chancellor also discussed various diseases children suffer from since the time of their births. ?These diseases often leave children with disabilities, but there is treatment available,? said Prof Shahab. The Pro-Vice Chancellor added that during his experience as a paediatrician, he has seen successful treatment of children with difficult medical conditions.
Professor Asfar Ali Khan (OSD to the Vice Chancellor), who attended the function as a guest-of-honour said that the University administration is committed to provide the best of facilities to differently-able students.
Prof Shahab and Prof Khan distributed head-phones, pen-drives, angles, crutches and tricycles to students.
Prof Khalid Bin Yousuf Khan (Coordinator, Disability Unit) discussed the importance of ?World Disability Day?.
On the occasion, AMU students, Zadiya and Rahul delivered special speeches. Dr Syed Faiz Zaidi (TPO, Disability Unit) proposed the vote of thanks. Afiya Rizvi and Rahul conducted the programme.
