12-DEC-2017: AMU Prof presents paper CLAWS seminar in New Delhi
Aligarh, December 12: Professor Maj General G G Dwivedi from the Faculty of International Studies, Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) presented a paper on ?Reforms- People Liberation Army (PL A): Emerging Profile? at a national seminar on ?China?s Military Modernization? organised by the Center for Land Warfare Studies (CLAWS), New Delhi.
Prof Dwivedi discussed that the key drivers of PLA?s reforms are national objectives, strategic culture, redefined role of military and revised doctrines. He added that China is emphasising on its national objectives such as sovereignty, stability and sustained economic growth.
Prof Dwivedi pointed out that the Communist Party of China (CPC) and PLA share symbiotic relationship as they are pillars of the Chinese system. ?PLA remains Party?s military and its prime role is to keep the Communist Party in power,? he said adding that China has reorganized its apex military structures with president as the operational ?Commander-in-Chief?.
He stated that the PLA modernization is the biggest generational military shake up, unprecedented in size and scope. ?It is in consonance with China?s expanding role as an emerging superpower,? said Prof Dwivedi.
He further said that the exponential accretion in China?s military power is bound to make leadership in Beijing even more assertive.
