14-DEC-2017: Mr Ahmad Saleem Peerzada passes away in New Delhi hospital
Aligarh, December 13: The Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) community today mourned the sad demise of AMU alumnus, Mr Ahmad Saleem Peerzada fondly known as Lovey Peerzada, who breathed his last in the Apollo Hospital, New Delhi after a suffering paralysis attack and brain haemorrhage.
AMU Vice Chancellor, Professor Tariq Mansoor extended his condolences to the bereaved family of the deceased.
Soon after the paralysis attack, Mr Peerzada was admitted to the Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College (JNMC), AMU. He was later shifted to Ganga Ram Hospital in New Delhi from where he was referred to the Apollo Hospital.
An engineer by education and training, Mr Peerzada was the Hony Secretary of Aligarh Muslim University Students Union (AMUSU) in his student days. He was known for delivering articulation.
His political stint continued after his student life as he founded the Parcham Party.
He played a role in representing AMU?s struggle for maintaining the minority character at the national level. In one of the interviews to a national daily, Mr Peerzada stated that ?it is the duty of the government to ensure that educational institutions are not denied their minority character on purely technical grounds and in total disregard to their origin and history.?
Mr Peerzada was born in Hardoi in 1954 to late Mr Peerzada Mashuq Husain Khan and Afsar Begum. His nephew, Mr Omar Saleem Peerzada is the Public Relations Officer of AMU.
