Former AMU visiting Prof, Nobel memento recipient to deliver guest lecture in Brussels
Aligarh, January 13: Prof Rais Akhtar, a former visiting professor at the Aligarh Muslim University (AMU), and Nobel memento recipient will deliver a lecture on ?Climate Change and human health: Global perspective? in an international conference on climate and culture in Brussels, Belgium as an overseas expert.
Prof Akhtar, who is also associated with the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), a scientific and intergovernmental body under the auspices of the United Nations will deliver the lecture in a programme organised by the Royal Academy of Overseas Sciences, Brussels.
He is a lead author of a chapter on Human Health (during 1999-2000) of IPCC, which received a Nobel Peace Prize in 2007.
Prof Akhtar with Prof Cosimo Palagiano (University of Rome) has edited Climate Change and Air Pollution, which was recently published by Springer (Germany). This book discusses regional and international climate-change, air- pollution and human-health scenarios. The research, from both industrialized and developing countries in the book, focuses on region-specific perspectives of climate change impacts on air pollution with countries and cities based studies.
