National Science Day observed at Dept of Geology
ALIGARH March 3: Department of Geology, Aligarh Muslim University organized a commemorative programme to pay tribute to Nobel laureate and great Indian physicist, Sir C V Raman and celebrate his novel discovery ?Raman Effect?, which marks the national science day.
In his presidential remarks, Prof. Syed Ahmad Ali, Chairperson, Department of Geology highlighted the objectives and importance of celebrating Science Day. He said that Raman won Nobel for his contributions in science and research scholars from various departments should focus on innovative ideas to earn recognition on international level.
Welcoming the guests, Prof Shadab Khurshid urged the faculty members to carry out original research work for the betterment of society.
Prof Shahid Farooq stressed the need for educating the underprivileged children and inculcating scientific temper in them. He urged teachers to work on such children in their locality and help them become an asset for the country. He said that such outreach activities will contribute towards building India a stronger nation.
Prof M E A Mondal, National Geo-science Awardee, shared techniques of writing proposals for research projects. He discussed the various approaches used to make research proposals. He urged young researchers to identify new areas of study, draft research proposals and submit them to the Department of Science and Technology.
Mr Ainul Hasan, a research scholar, expressed his views on the importance of observation and various research methodologies employed in scientific studies.
An interactive session was also held for the research scholars.
The faculty members, research scholars and students were present on the occasion.
