Aligarh, March 5: The Quranic Studies Forum, K A Nizami Centre for Quranic Studies, Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) organised a symposium on ?The Role and Responsibilities of Youth in the Formation of Ummah?.
Presiding over the function, Maulana Khalid Rasheed Firangi Mahli discussed individual responsibilities and the need to wipe out misconceptions. He emphasised the importance of being in the mainstream through elite government jobs.
Maulana Ibrahim Nadwi shared details of his works for women education and empowerment. He delineated Islamic perspectives on gender justice. ?Progress will come only if women are given equal opportunities,? said Maulana Nadwi pointing out that good things from other cultures should be adopted.
Mufti Omar Abedeen spoke on the role of Aligarh Movement in Muslim leadership, guidance in the jurisdiction of religious values and the importance of women in equal and just society.
Dr Tariq Ayyubi discussed how thoughts and works of Sir Syed and Allama Iqbal inspired people.
Ms Nida Akram (Vice-President, Women's College Students Union) talked about the positive roles of student leaders.
Mr Abdul Sabur Kidwai also spoke on the occasion, while Mr Haris Mansoor (Convener) conducted the programme and proposed the vote of thanks. Mr Waheed Khan delivered the welcome address.
