09-MAR-2018: Team of JNMC doctors organise camp to observe ?World Kidney Day?
Aligarh, March 9: A team of doctors from the Department of Medicine, Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College?JNMC, Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) organised a ?Kidney-Disease-Screening? camp in the Zohra Bagh area of Aligarh to observe the ?World Kidney Day?, a global campaign aimed at raising awareness on the importance of kidneys on the theme of ?Kidneys and Women?s Health?.
Around 150 patients including 115 females were examined in the camp by JNMC doctors. The organisers of the camp said that 28 patients were diagnosed with kidney diseases after clinical and basic investigations. These patients were provided with free medicines and their further treatments will be done in JNMC.
This team will organise another camp in the Jalali area of Aligarh on March 11 from 10: 00 am. Dr Saif Quaiser, Dr Haider Husaini and Dr Syed Hasan Amir will be examining the patients in the camp.
Dr Saif Quaiser said that Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) which is the eighth leading cause of death in women affects over 195 million women all over the world with 600, 000 deaths yearly.
?The risk prevalence of CKD is higher in women as compared to men, but lesser number of females undergo treatment because of socio-economic reasons,? said Dr Quaiser adding that the World Kidney Day-2018 emphasises equal access for women and increasing awareness about the problem.
