14-MAR-2018: UGC HRDC completes Subject Refresher Course and Orientation Program
Aligarh, March 14: The UGC Human Resource Development Centre (UGC HRDC), Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) completed a three-week, Subject Refresher Course in Social Sciences and a four-week Orientation Program 149 in which 97 university and college teachers from Assam, Bihar, Jammu and Kashmir, Karnataka, Kerala, Maharashtra, New Delhi, Tamil Nadu, Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal participated.
Prof A R Kidwai (Director, UGC HRD) spoke on ingrained values of multiculturalism, tolerance and gender equity in AMU. He said the fact that first AMU Chancellor of was Begum Sultan Jahan, the first principal of the MAO College was Henry George Impey Siddons and the first graduate of the college was Ishwari Prasad throws light on AMU?s inclusivity and diversity.
Dr Faiza Abbasi (UGC HRD) said that a pledge for acting against discrimination and harassment of women was also taken on the occasion. The pledge was administered by the Internal Complaints Committee of AMU.
Prof Mirza Asmer Beg (Course coordinator and chairperson, Dept of Political Science) and M S Umari (Dept of Arabic) were also present.
