Dept of Commerce organises workshop on ?Plagiarism?
Aligarh, March 17: The Department of Commerce, Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) organised a workshop on ?Plagiarism? which was conducted by Dr Nabi Hasan (Librarian, Maulana Azad Library, AMU).
Dr Hasan discussed how some authors through wrongful appropriation and stealing of another author's language, thoughts, ideas, expressions claim as one's own original work. Plagiarism is considered as an academic dishonesty and a breach of ethics, said Dr Hasan.
Professor Nawab Ali Khan (Dean, Faculty of Commerce and the Convener of the workshop) delivered the welcome address.
Dr Shamim Ansari, Dr Mohd Shadab Khan, Dr Rana Zehra Masood, Dr Naghma Azhar, Dr Lamaan Sami, Dr Firdous Ikram and Dr Mohd Shoaib were also present. Over 120 research scholars and 10 post-doctoral fellows attended the workshop.
Professor Sheeba Hamid proposed the vote of thanks, while Dr Sheema Tarab conducted the programme.
Prof Mohd Mohsin Khan, Prof S M Immamul Haque, Prof S Hussain Ashraf, Prof Nasir Zameer Qureshi, Prof Nafees A Khan, Dr M Asif Khan distributed mementoes and certificates to the winners of poster-presentation competition held during the International Conference on ?Tourism.?
