20-MAR-2018: Centre for Women?s Studies organise workshop on ?Gender Sensitization?
Aligarh, March 20: Ensuring big steps in implementation of gender-equality on the lines of a joint initiative by the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Ministry of Women and Child Development and the University Grants Commission (UGC), the Centre for Women?s Studies, Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) organised a workshop on ?Gender Sensitization?.
?The workshop was conducted to create a new batch of gender-champions,? said Prof Azra Musavi (Director, Centre for Women?s Studies and Head, Gender Champions Programme) pointing out, AMU has been proactive in implementing the UGC guidelines of Gender Champions.
She added, nodal teachers and Gender-Champions from different university faculties have already been appointed.
Dr Huma Hasan (Assistant Professor, Centre for Women?s Studies), the resource person of the workshop informed the participants about roles and responsibilities of Gender-Champions.
?Gender-Champions are required to spread awareness on legal and constitutional provisions related to women and to hold workshops and other programmes on gender issues,? said Dr Hasan.
Dr Tausif Fatima (Assistant Professor, Centre for Women Studies) and Dr Qurratul Ain Ali (Assistant Professor, Department of Social Work) who were also the resource persons of the programme spoke on ?Understanding Gender?.
The workshop aimed at inculcating deeper understanding of gender issues by sensitizing students on gender concerns.
