Orientation programme held at Faculty of Science
ALIGARH March 21: ?Sir Syed always gave importance to merit while inviting teachers of national and international acclaim to the Mohammedan Anglo Oriental College and categorically rejected other attributes including religion and region?, said Prof Shakeel Samdani while addressing an orientation programme at Faculty of Science, Aligarh Muslim University.
Pointing out that Sir Syed relentlessly worked for allaying fears and dogmas, especially in Muslims, Prof Samdani said that one of the most important contributions of Sir Syed was to help the people of India shed inferiority complex that had made them sick to their guts. He encouraged them to turn situation in their favour instead of becoming a victim of such adversities, Prof Samdani added.
Prof Samdani urged the students to make their way to success overcoming all difficulties and not fall prey to sickening thoughts and ideas. He said their success would make AMU reach number one position in the country.
Dr Allam provided detailed information regarding research based library facilities and online resources.
Prof Mohammad Shakir, Dean, Faculty of Science stressed the need for cultural enrichment of students besides academic excellence which, he said, was of foundational importance in Aligarh movement.
AMU Court Member, Mr Shahbaz Khan, who played a key role in the organization of the programme, welcomed the guests while Mr Mohammad Affan conducted the programme.
