26-MAR-2018: No university employee in criminal activities
Aligarh, March 26: The Aligarh Muslim University clarified that Suraj Kumar, arrested by the police allegedly to have implanted pellet, was never the employee and is not an employee at present also. The university today suspended a student, Naushad Akhtar on the basis of the police report.
AMU has further pointed out that the university has been working closely with the district administration to curb the menace of subversive activities. The university acts promptly on the letters of the district administration and in response to a letter of SP dated January 3, 2018, the university has launched an intensive search operation and many hostels including the Sir Ziauddin Hall, Sir Syed Hall (North), Sir Syed Hall (South), R M Hall and Ambedkar Hall Annexe were thoroughly searched.
The Registrar also writes to the district administration frequently apprising of law and order situation.
The provosts and wardens of various halls of residences are making frequent rounds till late hours for keeping a watch at their respective halls. Visitor register is maintained strictly and students are allowed to enter halls only after producing valid AMU ID cards issued by the Office of Dean Students? Welfare. The CCTV cameras are installed at the entry gates of the halls.
?However, the university cannot take responsibility of former students indulging in criminal activities,? said AMU officials.
