05-APR-2018: Three Days Workshop on R programming at AMU
Aligarh, April 5: A workshop on R programming was conducted by Training and Placement Office (General), Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) and StepUp Analytics.
The purpose of the workshop was to create awareness about R programming and its professional application.
Giving an over view Saad Hameed ( TPO and Organizer of the Workshop) said that ?R? is a language and environment for statistical computing and graphics. It is a GNU project which is similar to the S language and environment which was developed at Bell Laboratories.
It also offers various techniques like clustering, time-series analysis and classification technique, nonlinear/linear modelling, and classical statistical tests. These techniques are used in almost every field of study like: Statistics, Economics, Commerce, Management, Psychology and Zoology and plays a very vital role in increasing the employ-ability of the students, job aspirants added Hameed.
The core motive of the workshop was to create awareness and how R implementation is written in R, C, and Fortran, and how several other implementations aimed at improving speed . A closely related implementation is pqR (pretty quick R) by Radford M. Neal with improved memory management and support for automatic multithreading.
There were around 100 PhD. PG and UG students who registered for the workshop from the different departments
Md Zishan Hussain, Mohd. Numair Khan, Saad Ali Khan, Ali Imran, students from the Department of statistics, Economics and Agri Business and volunteers of TPO played a major role in coordinating and organizing the workshop.
