06-APR-2018: Dr Sumbul Zaheer delivers talk on ?Advances in Nuclear Medicine?
Aligarh, April 6: Dr Sumbul Zaheer (Consultant, Department of Nuclear Medicine, Singapore General Hospital, Singapore) delivered a talk on ?Advances in Nuclear Medicine? at the Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College (JNMC), Aligarh Muslim University (AMU). The lecture was organised by Aligs? Academic Enrichment Programme (AAEP).
She delineated the scope of therapy in nuclear medicine and how it is effective in certain cancer patients.
?Nuclear medicine is a specialized field involving the application of radioactive substances in the diagnosis and treatment of diseases,? said Dr Zaheer.
She discussed how Photon Emission Computed Tomography (SPECT) and Positron Emission Tomography (PET) scans are used to take images in nuclear medicine.
Prof M Khalid (Chairperson, Department of Radiodiagnosis) welcomed the speaker and other guests, while Prof S Ziaur Rahman (Coordinator, AAEP) proposed the vote of thanks.
