07-APR-2018: Women?s College organises annual All-India-Mushaira
Aligarh, April 7: The Women?s College, Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) organised its annual All-India-Mushaira (Poetic Congregation) in which poetry aficionados and connoisseurs of Urdu literature were left enthralled giving continuous Daad (appreciation) until the event was over.
AMU Pro Vice Chancellor, Professor Tabassum Shahab inaugurated the Mushaira with traditional lamp lightning. He also recited beautiful Urdu couplets while expressing his love for poetry and literature.
Presiding over the event, eminent Urdu poet, Waqar Manvi mesmerised the audience with his thought-provoking ornate poetry. The crowd cheered and some even started guessing the next lines when Manvi recited, ?Ache Kirdaar pe har tafsara karne wala, Khud bhi kirdaar ka acha ho zaroori to nahin?.
Guest-of-Honour, Azhar Inyati?s poetry on mankind, joys and sorrows with deep range of thoughts and felicitous use of the language was another attraction which left the audience spellbound.
Several prominent poets such as Shehpar Rasool, Alam Khursheed, Sahil Farooqui, Salma Shaheen, Mehtab Haider Naqvi, Siraj Ajmali, Rashid Anwar Rashid and Zoya Zaidi recited their poetry at the event.
The programme was organised under the supervision of Prof Naima Khatoon (Principal, Women?s College). Prof Durdana Qasmi was the convener of the Mushaira.
Dr Shariq Aqeel and Dr Ghulam Sarwar conducted the programme.
