Dr Pankaj Parashar receives Sahitya Akademi membership award
Aligarh, April 8: Sahitya Akademi, the National Academy of Letters has offered Dr Pankaj Parashar, assistant professor in the Department of Hindi, Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) with its membership for the Advisory Board of Maithili language.
He received the offer through a letter from Dr K Sreenivasarao, Secretary, Sahitya Akademi, which stated that as a member of the language Advisory Board, Dr Parashar will give advice and guidance in matters pertaining to programmes, publications and suggestions for Akademi?s function.
As an Akademi member, Dr Parashar will also design literary awareness programmes and methodologies for providing a platform of dialogue for writers. The membership offer was extended to Dr Parsahar after a recently held meeting of the Sahitya Akademi Executive Board. The Akademi now awaits an official acceptance of the membership by Dr Parashar.
Dr Parashar joined AMU after teaching at Banaras Hindu University. He has worked as News Editor in India?s leading Hindi newspapers. He did M Phil and PhD in Hindi Literature from Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), New Delhi.
Dr Parashar is a recipient of the Devi Shankar Awasthi Award for contribution to Hindi criticism through his book, ?Kavita Key Prashna Aur Pratiman?. He has received prestigious literary awards such as Maheshwari Singh Mahesh Granth Puraskar and Yatri Puraskar for his work in Maithili poetry. The University Grants Commission, New Delhi gave him the Research Award 2016-18 and he was also an Associate Fellow in Indian Institute of Advanced Study (IIAS), Shimla.
