09-APR-2018: AMU faculty members chair sessions at a national conference
ALIGARH April 9: In a national conference on the Impact of Environmental Xenobiotics on Human Health and Biodiversity, organized at the Lucknow University, faculty members of the Faculty of Life Sciences, Aligarh Muslim University, chaired different scientific sessions and presented invited talks.
Speaking on the animal diversity and its importance in the present scenario, Dr Shahid Bin Zeya, Department of Zoology emphasized that classical taxonomy has its own importance in spite of modern scientific approaches to identify animals.
Dr Riaz Ahmad of the Department of Zoology presented his findings on the amelioration of liver diseases by carotenoids.
Dr Orus Ilyas, Department of Wildlife Sciences highlighted the conservation strategies of Musk Deer and expressed concern on the decline in their number due to environmental disturbances.
Dr Ayesha Qamar, Department of Zoology and Dr Ekwal Imam, Department of Wildlife Sciences, along with Dr Shahid Bin Zeya acted as jury members to judge best oral and poster presentations.
