28-APR-2018: Epidemiological Research Unit conducts workshop on ?Efficient Quality-Assured Data Capture Using a Mobile Phone for Medical College and Public Health Professionals of North India?
Aligarh, April 28: Mobile devices go beyond creating communication channels between healthcare service providers and patients. To train doctors on how the use of smart phones help immensely in collection and capturing of patient's data, the Epidemiological Research Unit of the Department of Community Medicine, Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College (JNMC), Aligarh Muslim University conducted its first-ever workshop on ?Efficient Quality-Assured Data Capture Using a Mobile Phone for Medical College and Public Health Professionals of North India?.
The workshop, which was organized in collaboration with the International Union against TB and Lung Disease and Public Health Research and Assistance Society provided hands-on-training on ?Epicollect?, open access software for efficient and cost-effective data capture.
Extending a warm welcome to the participants, Prof Ali Amir (Organizing Chairman of the workshop) emphasized the benefits of ?Epicollect? in research projects. He said that this software provides simple and intuitive methods for complete online project creation, data storage and visualisation of aggregated data captured using smart phones.
Dr Nafis Faizi (Organizing Secretary of the workshop) expressed commitment with the support of all faculty members in further developing the Epidemiological Research Unit into a centre of excellence in research and training.
Dr Hemant D Shewade, Dr Pruthu TK, and Dr SM Danish were also present on the occasion.
Participants were also trained to conduct multi-centric studies during the workshop.
