Arts faculty journal released
ALIGARH April 29: The latest issue of the journal of the Faculty of Arts, Aligarh Muslim University was recently released by the Vice Chancellor, Prof Tariq Mansoor. A few days later, the editorial board of the journal gathered in the office of the Dean, Faculty of Arts to distribute copies of the journal to its contributors.
The journal, edited by Prof Samina Khan, is the result of the hard work of a team of joint editors who include Dr Rashmi Atri, Dr Ayesha Munira, Dr Nazia Hasan and Dr Akbar J A Syed, guest editors Dr Zainab Sarwat and Mr Ahmar Alvi and the Advisory Board consisting of Prof S N Zeba, Prof Sami Rafiq and Dr Jawed S Ahmad.
As part of the bicentenary celebrations of the founder of AMU, the journal has a special section on Sir Syed Ahmad Khan.
Noted Sir Syed scholar, Prof Shan Mohammad, Prof Lateef Kazmi and Dr Zainab Sarwat have explored Sir Syed?s contributions in the Sir Syed Section.
Prof Asim Siddiqui has talked about the reading of literature in the period of globalization and Dr Amirullah Khan wrote a piece on language. Other contributors include Dr Rubina Iqbal, Dr Munira T, Dr Preeti Sayeed, Dr Saqib Abrar, Dr Mohammad Asif, Prof Rohit Patela and Dr Sana Niazi.
In the book review section of the journal, Dr Faiza Abbasi has reviewed Jahan-e-Syed, the coffee-table book on Sir Syed, edited by Professor Mohammad Asim Siddiqui and Dr Rahat Abrar and published by the Times of India Group.
The journal has had an uninterrupted run for more than a decade.
