AMU invites SBSI applications
Aligarh, May 12: Aimed at engaging Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) students in the Government's cleanliness drive, the University has invited applications for Swachh Bharat Summer Internship (SBSI). The registration for the internships will be open till May 15.
The programme, which is on the lines of Prime Minister?s clarion call for each individual to devote 100 hours to Swachhata through the year is organised by the Ministry of Human Resource Development, in association with Swachh Bharat Mission (Gramin) and Ministry of Drinking Water and Sanitation.
AMU Vice Chancellor, Professor Tariq Mansoor has taken the lead among public universities by approving the implementation of SBSI in the University. He has urged AMU students to participate and register for SBSI in large numbers.
"The University Grants Commission (UGC) has assured that this internship will provide students with two academic credits," said Dr Ali Jafar Abedi, Nodal Officer, SBSI. He added that the letters about these internships have been dispatched to deans of various University faculties, principals of AMU colleges and provosts of residential halls.
SBSI posters have been released and pasted in all important campus areas and the link of the internship is available at the University website's home page.
During the internship, students will adopt one or more villages and conduct activities of their choice for rural sanitation. The best interns at college, university, state and national levels will be awarded with cash prizes.
