15-MAY-2018: Max Planck Institute of Evolutionary Biology sponsors Professor Qudsia?s Germany visit
Aligarh, May15: Professor Qudsia Tahseen, Department of Zoology, Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) has been sponsored by Max Planck Institute of Evolutionary Biology, Tubingen to visit Germany for three months for research collaboration.
Her visit will open new avenues by further enhancing cooperation and understanding in the relevant sectors between AMU and MAX PLANCK Institute.
Earlier, she was also selected under Bilateral Exchange Program of INSA (Indian National Science Academy) and DFG (German Research Foundation).
She will study the variation and phenotypic plasticity in a group of predatory nematodes. The attribute is a remarkable phenomenon involving gross morphological changes in the individuals of the same species owing to different types of diets or climatic conditions.
Such adaptations have evolutionary significance and make these nematodes survive in adverse conditions which are otherwise deadly for other organisms. Prof. Tahseen has been invited to contribute because of her wide taxonomic expertise on the group.
It is notable that Prof. Tahseen is presently the only faculty of AMU, who holds the fellowship of the three prestigious Academies of the country besides being the first Asian to receive ONTA international award for sustained excellence in Nematology.
She is the source of motivation to young researcher and pride for the Alma mater ,who has served as an expert in various high level national committees such as SAP, Raman Fellowship, and UPE etc.
Recently she has been to Madurai Kamraj University as a member of the expert committee to rate their performance under UPE (University with Potential for Excellence) scheme.
