Non-Teaching Staff bids farewell to Pro Vice Chancellor
Aligarh, July 11: Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) Non-Teaching Staff today bid farewell to the Pro Vice Chancellor, Professor Tabassum Shahab with a function held at the Conference Hall, Administrative Block.
In a poignant farewell ceremony, Prof Shahab, who is completing his tenure as the Pro Vice Chancellor said, "I am overwhelmed with the love and affection shown by AMU fraternity and words are not enough to explain." Prof Shahab added that the bond he shares with AMU will last forever.
He pointed out that his success as the Pro Vice Chancellor has been because of the efficient and effective non-teaching staff team, which is the backbone of the University.
Prof Shahab said that he considers farewells as happy occasions and he will keep serving in the best of his capabilities even after retirement.
Prof Shahab was appointed as the Pro Vice Chancellor in October 2017. He joined the Department of Paediatrics, Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College (JNMC) in March 1984 after completing MD (Paediatrics) from Madhya Pradesh in 1981.
He has supervised 16 MD (Paediatrics) theses and delivered lectures on important developments in the field of paediatric research at national and international conferences and seminars.
Prof Shahab has served as nodal officer of WHO and Global Polio Eradication Programme, UNICEF. He has also proved his mettle in administrative capacities as Nodal Officer of Minority Student's Affairs; President, Gymkhana Club in University Games Committee; Chairperson, Department of Paediatrics and Provost, Hadi Hasan Hall.
He has published a number of research papers in important national and international journals such as Indian Paediatrics, Indian Journal of Paediatrics, Journal of Tropical Paediatrics, etc.
Dr Nazim Husain Jafri (Registrar) presented a memento to the Pro Vice Chancellor, while Prof S M Jawed Akhtar (Finance Officer) and Mr Mujib Ullah Zuberi (Controller of Examination) gave Prof Shahab a framed citation copy.
Mr Mujeeb-e-Haque (Former General Secretary, Non-Teaching Staff Association) delivered the welcome address, while Mr Taufeeq A Khan (Former Cultural Secretary, Association) proposed the vote of thanks. Mr Massarrat A Khan conducted the programme.
Mr Owais Jamal Shamsi read out the citation and a Nazm (Poem) to honour Prof Shahab.
