25-SEP-2018: Junk Food awareness: Release of Poster on 'Junk Food Warnings'
Aligarh, September 25: Following the directives of the University Grants Commission (UGC), Ministry of Human Resource and Development (MHRD) regarding banning of junk foods in Universities / College campuses, the Department of Tahaffuzi wa Samaji Tib (Preventive and Social Medicine), Faculty of Unani Medicine, Aligarh Muslim University has initiated awareness drive in the University campus.
A Poster of 'Junk Food Warnings' was jointly released by Prof. Khalid Zaman Khan, Dean, Faculty of Unani Medicine and Prof. S M Safdar Ashraf, Chairman, Department of Tahaffuzi wa Samaji Tib (Preventive and Social Medicine), in the presence of a large gathering of teaching faculty, PG Scholars and Interns of the department .
Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Khalid Zaman Khan said that we should avoid junk foods to remain healthy and also emphasized that proper exercise and balanced diet keeps doctor away.
Prof Safdar explained the various aspects of the poster and its purpose. He highlighted the issue of obesity which is a serious problem worldwide and stated that the junk food is harmful especially for those who have a sedentary life style.
He urged everyone to examine and evaluate himself by the instructions prescribed in the poster.
The Poster will be widely distributed among the students and staff for maximum visibility.
