25-SEP-2018: National Workshop on Data Analytics
ALIGARH, September 25: Prof Mohammad Hanif Beg, Pro-Vice Chancellor, Aligarh Muslim University, inaugurated a 10-day national workshop on "Data Analytics with Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS)" organised by the Department of Psychology.
Addressing the participants, Prof M H Beg underlined the importance of accurate modes of data collection and analyses in diverse fields of science including medical and social sciences. Highlighting the popularity of SPSS usage in various interdisciplinary researches, he emphasised its capability to cater to data analytics.
In the keynote address, Prof Akbar Husain (Dean, Faculty of Social Sciences and Organizing President of the workshop) pointed out that data analysis is an integral part of any research. He said that the term research stood for Rediscovery, Exploration, Survey, Experiment, Acquisition, Research design, Correlation and Hypothesis Testing. He pointed out that data analyses via SPSS could be accurate in multidisciplinary research which is the need of the hour.
Earlier, welcoming the guests and participants, Dr S M Khan (Organizing Secretary) said that 50 participants were selected from 14 universities representing 8 states and this bears testimony to the success of such workshops.
Prof Roomana N Siddiqui (Chairperson, Department of Psychology and Organising Vice-President) proposed the vote of thanks.
