28-SEP-2018: AMU's e-Learning project selected as innovative project at IFLA
ALIGARH September 28: The International Federation of Library Associations (IFLA) has selected an e-Learning project in the Department of Library and Information Science, Aligarh Muslim University as one of the innovative projects of international relevance. Funded by University Grants Commission (UGC), this project is meant to develop an e-Learning portal for students.
Professor Naushad Ali PM, a senior faculty member in the department, presented his work at the 84th IFLA World Library and Information Congress held at Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia in presence of more than 3000 delegates, representing about 110 countries.
Prof Ali?s presentation, which was judged in the category of innovative projects of international relevance, won wide acclaim in the conference as several delegates from across the world expressed willingness to explore possible partnership and collaboration with AMU.
Prof Ali also received the IFLA World Library and Information Congress participation award and delivered an invited talk on trends in LIS learning in the International Colloquium on Information Science organized by Faculty of Information Management, Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM), Malaysia. He also attended ASEAN Caucus organized by National Library of Malaysia and National Library Board, Singapore.
Prof Ali has earlier completed six research projects funded by various national funding agencies including Department of Science and Technology (DST) and Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR), Indian Council of Cultural Relations (ICCR) and UGC.
Prof Ali who is also serving as deputy coordinator of UGC-SAP (DRS-1) project on Knowledge Management in Libraries, successfully developed the innovative Subject Information Gateway in Information Technology (http://www.itsubjectgateway.info) which was well received by the international academic community.
