01-OCT-2018: Prof Satish Bhargava receives prestigious award from Vice President of India
ALIGARH October 1: Prof Satish K Bhargava, a renowned radiologist and an alumnus of the Aligarh Muslim University has received the prestigious 'Distinguished NBE Excellent Teachers Award' from the Vice President of India for his distinguished services and contribution in medical studies. He has twin specialization in clinical Radiodiagnosis and Radiotherapy from Aligarh Muslim University and served AMU as faculty and Head, Department of Radiology, JN Medical College till 1987.
A born leader, gifted organizer and wonderful teacher, Prof Bhargava has the credit to establish the Department of Radiology at BPKIHS, Dharan, Nepal; University College of Medical Sciences (Delhi University ), GTB Hospital, Delhi and served as Head, Department of Radiology and also as Chairman, Board of Research Studies, FMS University of Delhi.
Prof Bhargava has authored 14 books of Radiology besides publishing more than 350 research papers, both in national and international journals and served at the editorial board of various prestigious journals. He has many awards to his credit including Sir JC Bose Oration Award, GEMS international Award; Dr BC Roy Award; IMA AMS Dr Satya Pal Aggarwal Annual Award; DMA Vishist Chikitsak Ratan Award.
Prof Bhargava has published two books in Hindi, 'Vikiran Vigyan' and 'Cancer Ke Tathya' for which he was awarded with 'Maulik Hindi Pustak Puraskar' by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Govt of India. He has also been authorized by WHO to translate and edit the book, 'Manual of Diagnostic Ultrasound' in Hindi.
Prof Bhargava has widely travelled for prestigious assignments and fellowships including WHO Fellowship to USA and Finland, visiting fellowship to Holland, Harvard Medical School, Boston, USA; Thomas Jefferson Medical College, Philadelphia, USA, and UK, etc.
In view of the shortage of trained technical manpower in radiology, Prof Bhargava was instrumental in innovating and starting 10+2 level vocational training course at UCMS, X-RAY Technician course as part of CBSE syllabus, B Sc Medical Imaging Technology, M Sc Medical Imaging Technology (Radiography) Course under University of Delhi and Diploma in Radiography through National Institute of Open Schooling.
Prof Bhargava has served as Secretary, Indian College of Radiology and Imaging twice; Chairman, Indian College of Radiology and Imaging twice; President Elect (2004) and National President of Indian Radiological and Imaging (2005).
