JNMC bids farewell to 2014 batch
Aligarh, October 3: It was an emotional moment at the Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College (JNMC), Aligarh Muslim University as the MBBS 2014 batch reminisced the countless lectures, lab hours, examinations and ward rotations during their farewell ceremony and the College Day, organised by JNMC teachers.
Addressing the MBBS 2014 batch, AMU Pro Vice Chancellor, Professor Mohammad Hanif Beg said, "I sincerely hope that all of you will become torch-bearers of high quality medical education and research like your predecessors."
Prof Beg pointed out that the MBBS 2014 batch is concluding at a time, when AMU has been ranked as the fifth best Public University by India Today-Mudra rankings.
He said that the privilege of receiving MBBS degree comes with an obligation, best captured in National Medical Commission (NMC) oath. Quoting a line from the NMC oath, 'consecrate your life to the service of humanity without considerations of religion, nationality, race, party or social standing', the Pro Vice Chancellor urged the MBBS pass outs to fulfill their roles as healers of society.
Prof Beg also urged them to regularly upgrade their knowledge, skills and research and to be innovative in scientific pursuits.
Renowned pediatrician, Dr Hameeda Tariq congratulated the MBBS 2014 batch for completing their course on behalf of AMU Vice Chancellor, Professor Tariq Mansoor. She further said that as a proud JNMC alumnus, it is heartening to see that AMU has again been ranked as one of the top Indian universities.
"Today is your day, your moment as will you finally add the prefix of doctor to your name," said Dr Hameeda urging the MBBS 2014 batch to dream big as ambassadors of wellness.
She pointed out that JNMC is a beautiful example of Indian pluralism and its students are famous for their spirit of love, brotherhood and bonding with each other.
"How swiftly and unnoticed time flies! One more year has been added to the glorious saga of JNMC and one more MBBS batch is here to bid adieu," said Professor S C Sharma, Dean, Faculty of Medicine.
He added that since its inception in 1962, JNMC has produced a remarkable number of great physicians, surgeons and academicians such as Dr Ashok Seth, Dr Narendra Malhotra, Dr Jaideep Malhotra, Dr Salman Akhtar, Dr Ashok Kumar Dutta, Dr K B Attri, Prof S K Bhargava and Dr Kohkan Shamsi.
2014 batch students, Siffat Tanveer and Prashant Yadav also spoke on the occasion.
Prof Tabassum Shahab, Mr Abdul Hamid (Registrar), Prof S M Jawed Akhtar (Finance Officer), Prof Jamshed Siddqui (Dean Students' Welfare), Prof L M Bariyar, Prof T Shahab, Prof Humayun Ashraf, Prof Tabassum Nawab and Dr Kamran attended the function.
Teachers performed Ghazals and songs to bid farewell to the 2014 batch in the programme conducted by Dr Saira Mehnaz and Dr Shaista Siddiqui.
