10-OCT-2018: Department of Strategic and Security Studies organises workshop on 'Cybersecurity'
Aligarh, October 10: We buy new phones, new computers and download new apps for social networking, learning and entertainment, but many of us don't know that hackers and cybercriminals are constantly looking for vulnerable targets to attack and steal information.
To provide an understanding of how to develop a safe and a constructive online space, the Department of Strategic and Security Studies, Faculty of International Studies, Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) in collaboration with the Centre for Social Research, New Delhi organised a workshop on 'Cybersecurity' at the Conference Hall, Tipu Sultan Block. The workshop was a part of the series of activities conducted by the department to promote its vision of a more secure, humane, peaceful and inclusive society.
Resource person of the workshop, Dr Amitabh Kumar (Cybersecurity trainer and Head of Department, Media and Communications, Centre for Social Research, New Delhi) delineated nuances involved in safe and secure use of social media and internet.
Sharing useful insights, Dr Amitabh explained how to utilize the online resources in the most secure ways. His colleague, Vikram Sheoran (Web Manager, Centre for Social Research) assisted Dr Amitabh and talked about specific aspects of internet security.
Dr Syed Tahseen Raza (Workshop Coordinator) highlighted the need for organising such workshops and informed the participants on various activities conducted by the Department of Strategic and Security Studies. Dr AzeerRahman proposed the vote of thanks.
