22-OCT-2018: Programmes organised to mark Global Handwashing Day at RHTC, Jawan
Aligarh, October 22: As India observed the Global Handwashing Day-2018 on the theme of 'Clean Hands-a recipe for Health', the Department of Community Medicine, Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College (JNMC), Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) organised special programmes at its Rural Health Training Centre (RHTC), Jawan.
Prof Ali Amir (Chairperson, Department of Community Medicine), Dr Uzma Eram (In-charge, RHTC) and Dr Tabassum Nawab conducted health talks at two different primary schools of the Tejpur Village in which community members, students and teachers were made aware about how proper hand washing can prevent diseases transmitted through dirty hands.
"Demonstrations of effective hand washing were done posters made by RHTC interns were presented for awareness," said Prof Ali Amir pointing out that the junior residents, medico-social workers and RHTC health inspectors participated in the campaign.
He emphasised that Global Handwashing Day is dedicated to spread awareness and understanding about the importance of hand washing with soap and water as an effective method to prevent diseases and boost immunity. "The theme, 'Clean hands - a recipe for health, reminds us to make handwashing a part of every meal," said Prof Amir.
